Your Home Changes, Technology Changes Faster.

Smart home equipment leasing gives New Jersey homeowners another way to invest in technology that makes everyday living easier. Instead of purchasing every component outright, Total Home Up-to-Date provides a structured approach to acquiring equipment, caring for it and ultimately owning it.

The challenge with traditional technology purchases isn't just the initial expense. It's what happens several years later, when systems need updates, equipment ages or new possibilities become available. Since 1992, Total Home Technologies has designed, installed and supported integrated home systems. Our approach considers the full life of your technology, not just the day it's installed.

The goal isn't to own more technology, it's to enjoy your home with less to think about.

A Better Way to Own Your Home Technology

Total Home Up-to-Date gives New Jersey homeowners a different approach to smart home technology. From a path to equipment ownership and future upgrades to ongoing care and support, the program is designed to keep your home current without starting over every few years.

One Trusted Team

Work with a team that knows your home's technology and how its systems fit together, making  adjustments and troubleshooting simpler to handle whenever your needs change.

Ownership Shouldn't Mean Managing Everything Yourself

Buying equipment outright can leave homeowners responsible for navigating warranties, troubleshooting compatibility problems and deciding when aging components need replacement. Total Home Up-to-Date approaches those concerns differently.

Your agreement defines the leased equipment, applicable maintenance and service coverage, available upgrade options and the path to ownership. Total Home's team helps you understand the system and make informed decisions as technology changes. The result is a more considered approach to home technology, with clear responsibilities and a professional relationship that extends beyond installation.

One home, one coordinated approach to its technology.

How Total Home Up-to-Date Works

We begin with your home, not a list of products. Your routines, existing technology, long-term priorities and design plans determine which approach makes sense.

1

Understand Your Home

We learn how you live, what technology you already use and what you'd like to improve. For new builds or renovations, we can coordinate with an architect, designer or builder.

2

Design the Right System

We design an integrated technology plan and review equipment that may qualify for leasing. We also assess what you own, what still works and what makes sense to keep in place.

3

 Establish Your Agreement

We review equipment, lease terms, ownership conditions, required support and upgrade options with you, so you can understand the agreement before making a commitment.

4

Keep Moving Forward

During your agreement, we offer the services included in your plan and help assess any future equipment needs. Ownership transfers at the end according to your contract terms.

Why Total Home Technologies?

An Engineering-Led Approach Since 1992

Founder Keith Harrison built Total Home Technologies around the idea that sophisticated systems should be simple for homeowners to use. That thinking continues to guide the way we design, program and support technology.

Experience Beyond Installation

Total Home has operated an equipment-leasing model for years, developing an approach that considers how technology performs, changes and is supported after the initial project.

Solutions Before Products

We don't begin by asking which products you want to purchase. We begin with what you want your home to do, then determine the systems, programming and equipment needed to make it happen.

Responsibility Over Time

Good technology planning considers maintenance, compatibility and the next stage of a home's life. Our goal is to remain a knowledgeable resource as your needs evolve.

Technology changes. The responsibility to get it right doesn't.

Total Home Up-to-Date FAQ

What is Total Home Up-to-Date?

Total Home Up-to-Date is Total Home Technologies' equipment-leasing approach, designed to give homeowners an alternative to buying all eligible smart home equipment outright. It combines technology planning with defined leasing, support and ownership arrangements.

Do I own the equipment at the end?

The program is designed to provide a path to ownership. At the end of the agreed term, ownership transfers under the conditions specified in your lease. Our team will explain those conditions before you enroll.

Is Total Home Up-to-Date the same as financing?

Not necessarily. Total Home Up-to-Date uses an equipment-leasing arrangement with its own provisions for equipment, service, ownership and future changes. We'll explain how the agreement works so you can compare it with purchasing equipment outright.

Is every smart home component eligible for leasing?

No. Eligibility depends on the equipment and current program terms. Networking hardware, automation components, audio/video equipment and control interfaces have historically been part of Total Home's leasing approach. Our team will confirm what qualifies for your project.

Can I upgrade equipment during the agreement?

Upgrade options depend on your equipment and lease terms. Total Home can evaluate compatible improvements and explain any applicable changes or charges before you proceed.

What happens if leased equipment stops working?

Your agreement determines which equipment failures, replacement components, maintenance services and labor are covered. We'll review those responsibilities with you so you understand what happens if equipment needs attention.

Is a support plan required?

Yes. Leasing customers must maintain the applicable Total Home support coverage. Our team will explain the required service level and available 24/7, monitoring and on-site options.

Can I use the program with an existing smart home?

Total Home works with existing installations as well as new projects. We can evaluate your current equipment and discuss whether eligible components or planned upgrades are suitable for the program.

What happens if I sell my home?

The options depend on the agreement. Total Home can explain the provisions for ownership, equipment removal, settlement or potential transfer arrangements before you commit to a lease.

How much does Total Home Up-to-Date cost?

The cost depends on the eligible equipment, system design and applicable agreement. Our team will review the specific arrangement and its terms with you during consultation.
