Security Camera Installation NJ

Cameras placed where they matter, clear at night, recorded so you can find the moment, and viewable from your phone.

Cameras Planned Around the Property

Security camera installation in New Jersey works best when the cameras are planned around the house, not just screwed to a wall near an outlet. Total Home Technologies, a Roseland firm working across Northern New Jersey since 1992, places and wires surveillance cameras for homeowners in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, and Sussex Counties, with Ring cameras and doorbells tying into Control4 and Savant where the household wants one view. This page covers cameras; the full picture is on the home security systems page.

Each camera is chosen for its spot: the distance it has to see, the light it will face at night, and whether a wire can reach it. The result is footage you can actually use, not a wall of gray rectangles.

When Cameras Stop Doing Their Job

Camera trouble tends to surface at the worst time. A camera has been offline for weeks, the night view is a blur, the recorder quietly stopped saving, or the only app login belongs to the company that installed it. Wireless cameras drop off the Wi-Fi at the edge of the yard, and older cameras no longer get updates.

Total Home runs a 24/7 Help Desk and offers 24/7 service plans with phone support, and service-plan customers receive priority onsite service. The Help Desk is in-house and works with OneVision Resources. More detail is on the support page.

Total Home checks the cameras, the recorder, the wiring and the network, including systems another company installed. A weak network link or a missed firmware update often explains a camera that keeps dropping out, and cameras that still perform stay in place.

Problems Worth a Call

✓ A camera offline or dropping out
✓ Night footage you cannot make out
✓ A recorder that stopped saving video
✓ Wireless cameras that fade at the edge of the yard
✓ App access tied to a former installer
✓ Cameras too old to get updates

What Good Camera Coverage Adds

Cameras earn their place when they answer the plain questions: what happened, when, and who was there.

A View of the Whole Property

Cameras cover the driveway, front door, side gates, garage and yard, with each placement planned so the spots that matter stay clearly in view, with no blind corners up close.

Footage You Can Trust at Night

Night is when most questions come up. Cameras are chosen and aimed for the light at every spot, so a face or a plate reads clearly, not a grey smear, after dark or in the fog.

Clips You Can Actually Find

Recording is set up so any moment is easy to locate by time and camera instead of scrolling for an hour, and the clips that matter can be saved or shared without a technician.

Eyes on Home From Anywhere

Live views and recorded clips reach your phone, with alerts tuned so a passing car or a branch swaying in the wind does not bury one notification that actually matters to you.

Security Camera Installation Services

Most camera projects pull together several of the pieces below, planned so they share one network, one app and one team to call.

Camera Placement and Coverage

Cameras are positioned for the driveway, entries, garage and yard, chosen for the distance and field of view each spot needs, and aimed at your own property so coverage is useful and not intrusive.
✓ Entries, driveway, garage and yard covered
✓ Field of view matched to each location
✓ Wired where possible, wireless where a wire cannot reach

Night and Low-Light Performance

Low light is where cheap cameras fail. Models and settings are matched to each location, from a dark side yard to a driveway under a streetlight, so the footage is clear when it is needed.

Recording and Storage

Footage records to a local recorder sized for the number of cameras and how far back you want to look, so clips keep saving during an internet outage and are easy to search later.

Remote Viewing and Alerts

Live views, recorded clips and alerts reach your phone, tuned so routine motion does not drown out the events worth seeing. Doorbells and locks are covered on the smart locks and video doorbells page.

Cameras on Your Control System

With Control4 or Savant, live camera views appear on the TVs, touchscreens and app the household already uses. The home automation page explains how that control works across the house.

Repairs and System Takeovers

An offline camera, a recorder that stopped saving or a login still held by a former installer is worth a call. Equipment that still performs is kept, and only what has failed is replaced.

Why Total Home for Security Cameras

Built on a Network That Can Carry It

Cameras are only as good as the network behind them. Total Home designs the Wi-Fi and wired network as well, so video has a reliable path and there is one team to call. The Wi-Fi networks page explains how that network is planned.

Cameras Aimed at Your Property

Cameras are placed and adjusted at installation so they stay focused on your driveway, doors and yard, which keeps the footage useful and respects the people next door.

What Our Clients Say

Security Camera Questions

Do cameras need to be wired?
Wired cameras are the most reliable, and wiring is easiest during construction. In finished houses, cable can often follow attics and basements, and wireless fills in where a wire cannot reach.

Will the cameras record if the internet goes down?

Cameras that record to a local recorder keep recording during an outage, as long as they have power. Remote viewing and phone alerts return once the connection is back.

How long is footage kept?

That depends on the recorder, the number of cameras and the settings. Retention is chosen during design so it fits how far back you want to be able to look.

Will my cameras see into a neighbor's yard?
Cameras are aimed at your own property, and views are adjusted at installation so they stay focused on your driveway, doors and yard.

Can you take over cameras another company installed?

Often, yes. The cameras, recorder, wiring and network are checked, what still performs is kept, and app access is moved to you.
